You can’t start with garbage and hope you come out with gold. This isn’t alchemy it’s marketing. When you shovel lies, misconceptions and half-truths out into the world (garbage) the only thing you’re going to get back is more garbage. Garbage results, garbage leads and garbage analysis. That’s not to say you can’t start with the highest quality marketing ingredients and still end up with garbage (anyone whose watched Kitchen Nightmares knows that analogy), but your chances of a beneficial outcome are much higher when you start with integrity, honesty and transparency in your marketing mise en place.
Keep this in mind the next time you consider buying a mass email list or glossing over that rather serious glitch in your product or using misdirection instead of good information. Keep your system garbage free and you will have a lot less to worry about.
